KeymasterI think that the recent use of the directories by Merloni to approach engineers is brilliant but it also shows the power of having all the guys listed there with up to date contact details. What I would say is that we should, wherever possible, try to remain and also LOOK as professional as possible in there as well.
You’ll notice that there’s quite a few logos appearing in there from the guys and the skillsets are also very important as well which can be displayed by the use of the other little logos I made up. It’s simple but clear and effective. Point is it works and is pleasing on the eye as well as conveying the information.
As was said at the meeting there are things going on that may well lead to UKW getting a lot more exposure and you have to ask yourself, who’s going to get the business, you or the guy that has a nice looking fancy logo that looks professional? In this arena it’s all about image, you don’t buy from Joe CD’s but from Amazon because it LOOKS more proffesional and therefore more reputable and probably offering a better service wether that is actually the case or not is irrelevent really.
Upshot is that if you have a logo or you want the skills icons in place please let me or Dave know and we’ll rattle them up for you.
Yes, e-jobs may well eliminate some of that, but you still do not want to put off potential contract clients or customers that happen to use the directory to find an agent do you?

KeymasterSorry Ian I can’t seem to get it exactly the way I want itas any HTML coding is over-ridden by the CSS style sheet for UKW. Basically this means that I can’t hard code the font attributes in HTML, I can however alter it slightly and use a graphic instead if that’s what you want to achieve the effect you require. That however will take a bit of time with Paintshop or similar to get it so it looks right.
But you can see, I’m sure, what can be achieved with some simple coding.
