ParticipantI attended this machine – it was DOA.
Client says other engineer said it was damp that got to the elements. I checked it out and it appears to be fine, I checked all the relevant points such as fuse, pump, thermostats, heater elements, suppressors, capacitors and they all appears to be in working order.
I checked for insulation but as far it can go it right up to the switch, the reading shows it over the range.
It was not clear if the other engineer has seen the machine, the client says that it stopped working after drying. I am thinking that she experienced the same fault in the past or she phoned around for advice.
I checked the display board, clean as a whistle. I wonder if it is the module unit that sits on the side of the dryer. I seem to recall issues with the drying timer being the culprit. Correct me if I am wrong, supposedly if damp got to the element it should have TOC and the machine would still be running but no heat? The funny thing that the drainage and pump chamber are all clean as a whistle, not overly damp more like touch damp as you would expect it.
Has anyone come across this before?

Hi twickniks,
Models fitted with A1 type Module
The one-shot thermostat is wired into
the Neutral supply of the module. If the
One-Shot Thermostat operates and
opens the machine will be ‘dead’ and
the display will be blank.
A fault code will NOT be displayed.have you checked the stats on the heater ?.

All the stats works (closed circuits) assuming you meant the three stats on the rear on top of the heater unit.
I noticed you said neutral supply of the module, did you mean the actual module on the side of the dryer? Looks like I may have overlooked. I didn’t think they would but in thermostat by the module, odd place I think unless there’s a reason for it.

the one shot stat is on the heater, did you measure it with the wires disconnected ?.

Hi
Agree with bob on this one as had myself a few week’s back.
One shot stat . Slave a spare one in to try it .

Yes I did measure it with the wires disconnected. I have done this kind of work many times. All three stats are closed circuits, so none of them are open. Even with the one shot stat is closed at the start and giving me readings when I warmed it up with my hands.
That’s why I am at odds with the dryer.

Hi
I have had the same thing before, eg a one shot stat giving a closed circuit reading.
The one shot stat either reads closed or open circuit,it does not alter it’s reading because you have warmed the stat up.
The only time it alters its reading is when it goes above 140 degrees.
When this happens it is a mechanical action that makes the stat go open circuit.
I now always short the one shot stat out to preform a proper test.
Cheers
