    Hi all
I have a Howdens Dishwasher HJA8630. to sort,
I sussed out that the on/off switch was faulty. so I have temporarily shorted out the neutral side of the switch just to give the customer some service.
A couple of questions if you can help.

While shorting out the neutral side I would have expected the switch to still operate as normal (ie breaking the live side) however this is not the case the machine still operates as if I had bypassed the whole switch does anyone know why?

There is a tube attached to the switch but I don’t know what it’s function is. I am just guessing that it is attached to some kind of flood protection device which switches the power off in an emergency. Any ideas?

Lastly can anyone tell me where I can by one of these switches, a search in the forum suggests the AWS should be my answer however on going to their site it seems a lot of the links don’t seem to work. I don’t really want to wait until Tuesday to phone them up.

    Regards to All

Thanks for that Criscold, Can you help with any of the other questions? ie what is the plastic tube for or why does the machine work with only one side of the switch shorted out?

Looking at diagram I can’t see why the machine would work with only one side shorted and I have never investigated about the hose – have sent some info to your email
