What about the LG F1256QD 1200rpm 7kg Direct Drive Washing Machine I have heard these are guarantee`d for 10 years but can bearings be changed on these direct drive drums.

Whats the general feel with you guys on LG washing machines (are they better than hotpoint/hoover etc.
Just want to get this one right and more importantly avoid these stupid sealed drums.

If you read the small print it states that the 10 year guarantee is for the motor only.
You do need to register the appliance with LG to validate the warranty.

are LG a decent washing machine or should we be looking at something else, We have a bosch but it has the sealed drum and it is very noisy on spin and is putting oily marks on clothes and it is only less than 3 years old.
All we want is something that can be serviced rather than just throw it away, we was going to by whirlpool but this was only because of a good deal on price, as further up on this thread you can see why we did not bother as if the bearings failed it would need a whole new drum at a cost of over £800 which does not make sense when its only £267 to buy new.
It certainly opens your eyes in regards to choosing the “right” appliance.

My god whirlpool really are taking :eeek: the biscuit on there spares now! Personally i like LG don’t work on an awful lot of them and those i do work on are either small faults the bearings have gone which are replacable or the pcbs gone which is a bit of a headache as they can be quite expensive but imo. Good machines. HTH DJ

I know what you mean about Whirlpool spares they seem to be expensive when I was looking in comet at the LG we are thinking about they sold 3 whirlpool machines mainly because they have been knocked down to £267 for a 9kg tub but seems false economy if ever it fails you are more than likely to just bin it.
Never really thought Bosch would use a sealed drum and don’t know why manufacturers think they are a good idea.

In my opinion its so they price everyone else out of the job,so either they get the service work or they hope that the customer will just go out and buy their brand again.its a sad thing the way its going. 🙁 I can’t even remember the last time I did a proper set of bearings (ie not a replacement drum/back half) must of been nearly a year ago.I’vegot a couple of old customers that love there old hotpoint first editions wm62’s which I do every few years. They use them as 2nd machines for dog and horse blankets etc. But that’s life I guess gotta go with the flow .

WM62’s are Aquarius machines, not 1st Editions. 😉
I still do at least one set of bearings almost evey week. Mainly on Hotpoint machines of all types right up to WMA, WF ones. I did a set on a 28 year old 9500 series a few weeks back. 8)

Again I wish manufacturers would ditch these silly sealed drums/tubs it does not make sense and I cant think what the advantages are to a manufacturer other than when bearings fail you are more than likely to replace the machine and often the case with a different brand. Its a sad state of affairs 😥
