Hi, I have a Hotpoint dishwasher approximately 4 years old that has just stopped working. I left the machine on a half load cycle (usually takes 32 minutes) and when came back 2 hours later to empty it, found that it was stuck half way through the cycle on 17 minutes. The tablet had not disolved and the plates were still dirty. I have re-set the machine, changed the cycle mode but each time I turn it back on it seems to be stuck in the same place. I can hear the machine coming on but it does not sound like it is doing anything. I have left it turned off for over an hour in the hope that it would sort itself out but to no avail. Any ideas on what the problem is and how to resolve?? Thanks in advance!!

Yes, and the rest, nearer 10 years old minimum. 😉Its a Bosch based machine so a hundred times better than the current Indesit junk sold as Hotpoint these days.
It could be the fill matrix/heat exchanger, pressure chamber or transfer hose blocked with gunge due to years of loading the plates without first rinsing them off.
There are lots of threads on this problem, I will try to find one of them with some pictures that may help.
THIS thread is one that did contain the images, sadly they are borked since the recent forum changeover, I will try and fix them.

Images now sorted, if you look at the very top, left hand corner of the large plastic fill matrix/heat exchanger you may see it badly clogged up inside. This will also cause the same problems and is very difficult to clear.
Be sure to remove the mains plug if you intend to proceed.
