ParticipantI have a TEKA DW6 55 FI dishwasher, which is not working.
Symptoms are that when turn on power, select any programme, & shut the door, I get a hum/noise of the machine, but then 10 beeps, followed by pause and continuously repeated. Opening the door shows the 4 or 5 lights from the lefthand side flashing (the programme lights). Noting else happens. No water starts to flow.
Power is on. Water is on.
I have checked water inlet hose filter – clean.
I did have water in the tray underneath the machine and have now sponged out all that water so that the float sensor appears to be down. Same symptoms still.
I have taken off the right hand panel, disconnected the air hose, blown down it, and see bubbles in the sump inside.
I have placed water in the sump, started a programme, and the pump does empty this, with obvious water pressure coming out of the drain hose, so the pump appears to be working on the face of it. Is that right – does the pump operate to remove waste water ?
I’m not a professional, and have tried the ideas above I have found online. I’m looking for further suggestions as to what is still causing the beeps/fault.
I saw some online advice to ‘reset’ the machine by holding down the on/off button or a programme button until hear a beep, but I didn’t seem to get this.
Thanks for any help in advance.May 4, 2011 at 5:53 pm #350546kwatt

It’s a Haier in a dress, Chinese and not the best I’m afraid. The big red warning on the fault code guide says, for the repairers:

Just so you have a flavour of them.
The error code you have is a base overflow error, the machine thinks that the base is flooded and until it’s cleared it won’t go.
The common reasons for that are explained like this:
FCG wrote: Multi-function Tablets – Chinese Dishwashers
It is also worth pointing out that these machines are very prone to “overfill” problems. This has been found in the field to be caused largely due to the use of multi-function tablets as they can “over foam” on the rinse cycle and cause flooding into the base. Both the Haier and Midea produced dishwashers seem to be prone to this issue.
Should the customer use rinse aid as well as a multi-function tablet with a rinse aid function, then the overfill condition can be reached far quicker and more severely.
The other cause of this can be the customer opening the door whilst the machine is on, for example to add an item once the program has started, as this causes a temperature differential, increases the interior pressure and forces water into the overflow flooding the base. That’s the official explanation, what we’ve found is that the machines are often poorly installed and opening the door causes a “wave” to the front which drains into the overflow and floods the base. Ask the customer if they do this and, if they do, tell them not to open the door once the program has started.
But, as I said, until the machine thinks that the base is clear it will not start and will just keep throwing up the error that your’e getting.

Thanks for the response. Appreciated. However, I’ve checked the overflow and drained it with a sponge. There is no longer water in there and the float is free to move up and down (is currently down). Any ideas why it would still ‘think’ it is full ? Is it possible there could be another cause ?
Thanks again,

Several.
Faulty float switch, faulty electronics, if the base completely flooded it can blow stats, the motor…
TBH half the time with those things it’s a game of “pin the tail on the donkey” trying to actually put them right. 🙁

Hmmm thats worrying, since hard to say where to start. I wanted to avoid expensive call out charges, but it looks as though I will have to get somebody out to diagnose 🙁
I don’t think it flooded too much, since there wasn’t a great deal of water in the base, but it was quite frothy (referencing back to thew link you sent about soap types).

Anyone has solved this?
I have the same issue, 10 beeps 4 leds lit, the pump works and gets all the water out, even if I manually fill with water I can hear it going out fast and easy. This also happens if I turn on, and close the door even with no program selected. But also happens with any program…
Thanks,
JS
