I know this might be a long shot but does anyone know of a washing machine that does not time the water intake or resort to an error code if the water fill is not within a predetermined time?
I have a customer who is on their own private water supply and their present elderly AEG copes because the pressure switch will wait until it is full and there are no electronics to stop it if it takes too long (sometimes up to fifteen minutes depending on the weather and supply). This machine is not going to last for ever. Is there a brand new machine they could buy without having to resort to a second hand equivalent, or a commercial top loader that use a lot of water or having to fit a pump to the intake to boost the pressure.

Big problem on weak supplies now and I am unaware of any that will cope under at least 1 bar of pressure and, even at that many will time out. And, even many commercials are the same now so far as I know.

Ken, I noted in the ISE service manual that certain programming parameters could be changed. Is water timing part of that?
I’ll try and get a water pressure reading. It must be above 1 bar as the valves are standard AEG although now I think about it the valves in the 80’s were 0.5 bar as I recall so their pressure is probably less than a bar. Sounds like I might have to fit a booster pump! Not sure the supply could cope with that with out air locks. I might need to set up some sort of holding tank with a boost on that.Is being able to adust the water timing something that can be considered for the ISE. I am aware of at least six other small holdings in the area that have low pressure….not quite as bad as this one though I must admit. They have all got older machines that wait patiently to fill up. I’m doing my best to keep them going!

No, so far as I am aware the fill time is hard coded into the EEPROM and can’t be altered, same for all I’ve seen.
You get the same problem in high rise flats etc. and the only option is to fit a booster pump from a tanked supply for a few things like washers, dishwashers, showers etc.

Bosch/Siemens machines that use a ‘flow sensor system’ could possibly be the answer you seek? The specification toward the flow sensors acceptable rate tolerance is between in minimum flow rate of 2 litres per min and a maximum of 12 litre per minute.
So, I reckon if the private water supply has a reasonable enough ‘head of water’ (pressure) to allow the inlet valves to open (as the AEG obviously does) then chances are the flow meter will be happy, making Bosch a distinct possibility?

That sounds good Martin. I didn’t realise they were like that in the washing machines. Is that all new Bosch washing machines or certain ones? When I had a look at the Bosch website just now it didn’t make any reference to this on the technical specs. Would it be a process of calling up the spare parts diagram and seeing which model had what? I haven’t had a look at the Siemens site yet.
Now you mention it there is a Bosch dishwasher on the property which I have had to clear the pump out a couple of times and I noticed then that it has a flow sensor and that seems to cope alright.
