ParticipantLast week we ordered a spin dryer from the qualtex website, sadly when it arrived it was damaged. Upon reporting this i was told that it was sent out ‘at my own risk’ and they would not be able to do anything about it! I have tried to resolve it by phoning Qualtex, they gave me the email add of a manager who hasn’t responded to my 2 messages and they keep failing to return my calls. I have dealt with Qualtex for years and have always found their service brilliant so im now quite confused that im not getting anywhere with this!
Has anyone else had similar problems?May 5, 2011 at 5:23 pm #350638washtronics

i use qualtex for most things and have very few problems, even with oven elements with earth faults after a few months, they credit me back for or replace

Never heard such nonsense! What’s the name of the person you spoke to? And from what office?

It was the manchester office and funny enough i heard back this morn from a Mr Eatherington confirming that although this is the case they would arrange a £10 credit. I think this only applies to finished goods and not spares.
A real shame i think as i have, until now, found Qualtex a pleasure to deal with.May 6, 2011 at 8:10 am #350641Criscold

I seem to remember getting a letter from Qualtex about a year or so ago stating that they would not be liable for damage in transit of drums & large items and it was up to the the customer to arrange for suitable insurance cover whilst the parts were in transit, how you would do this I don,t know. I personally have never had any problems with Qualtex returns and looking thru their terms and conditions I am unable to find any mention of this either on the invoices or web

This sounds really odd for Qualtex to do this sort of thing! 😐 I’m guessing they delivered it to you in there own van and thats why they won’t pay out, mind you they are pritty silly if they don’t insure themselves for damage in transit? Even I’ve got that!

I have now written to Qualtex asking them to clarify their position on damaged bulky spares and finished goods so hopefully it will all be resolved soon!

I have had a truly dreadful week dealing with another well known supplier, normally so good but the office staff don’t seem to have a clue ATM. :rolls:

I’m more than sure Jim refers not to Connect but to a sunny seaside based company.
However, we digress. I have since re-read Simon’s original post and I now realise where he is coming from. When he refers to “at my own risk” he means that he has agreed to have goods delivered to his establishment ‘without signature’. Therefore the goods were delivered but not inspected or signed for, hence why he has, inadvertently perhaps, not realised he therefore takes the risk of the items not delivered to the correct address, lost in transit or even stolen.
It goes without saying that any goods you request being delivered and left without signature in this way are done so entirely at the purchasers own risk.

Hi Martin, The goods were signed for in the usual way and i was unaware that they were sent “at my own risk” until i complained about the dent! I recieved my delivery, as always by courier to our shop not qualtex van.

Correct, I will e-mail you the gory details, I am sorely tempted to air this in public but I will keep my counsel. 👿

Oh Jim, pray tell. From being my main supplier for 11 years that lot with the moth eaten website are lucky if they get an order a month now because of various cock ups. That’s only because they are cheaper on some parts though, loyalty has gone through the window.

Bar the odd cockup I don’t really have an issue with any of the major suppliers.
MP are usually pretty good on the whole.
CDSL, very good at what they do best, spares distribution.
HTM, excellent on certain categories.
Qualtex, good on all they have in stock and policies not that much different from the others really.
Homespares, don’t use them just as much but seem okay.
Some of the others and especially some manufacturers can be, shall we politely say, can be a little “lacking”. But even some of them, equally, can be blindingly good.
But, from time to time, they like all of us do make and ar$e of it. That’s life. Judge them on how they sort the problem, not that the problem crops up as it’s inevitable that from time to time one or two will.
Maybe we should hold awards for good service? 😉
Then the manufacturers and distributors can suss out how to cheat them like some other awards. 😆
