We have a recurring problem with our WDM130. The tube to the condenser keeps splitting. Its done it about 3 or 4 times. The valve that puts low-pressuer water into the condenser tube seems to fail and send high pressure water into the pipe, which then explodes. I’ve replaced the hose and the valve several times. It works fine for weeks or even months, then we get a pool of water during the dry cycle.

Is this a problem that other people have had? is it anything to do with the hard water we have? Should we just bin it and get a normal vented dryer?

    Any ideas would be appreciated.

    Cheers

    Paul,

First and foremost I believe you refer to a HOOVER and not a HOTPOINT 😕

On a HOOVER WDM130 the Condensor water inlet nozzle is indeed prone to hard water limescale blockages. The result of which, being very dramatic in blowing up the feed hose from the valve 🙁

Historically they do need regular servicing (i.e. Clearing the fine inlet nozzle aperture and defluffing the whole Condensor Ducting). The feed hose will need replacing and I recommend installing jubilee clips to retain the hoses at both ends.

Consider installing a water softener to eliminate this problem completely, otherwise regular servicing the watch word 😉

Many thanks for your helpful reply. It does somewhat confirm the theory as to why this part has failed repeatedly.
