    Model Hotpoint RFA07T, S/N 410140132 – purchased 2005
In the last few days noticed the fridge wasn’t as cold as it should be. Freezer seemed OK.
Defrosted it today and the freezer is not getting cold anymore. The fridge is partially cold, but not cold enough (butter is slightly soft straight from the fridge)

I don’t know if relevant but for the last 6 weeks or so there has been water gathering under the salad bins – seems like the drain hole is blocked.

From reading this forum it seems this could be major problem. Is it worth calling a service engineer at €50 a callout (€100 for a hotpoint engineer). I would probably pay €100 to fix it, but much more and I would consider buying a new unit. (This is my 3rd hotpoint appliance to collapse within the last year – will never buy hotpoint again).

Thanks in advance for any help

Looks like a bog standard FF so it’s liable to be either a stat or compressor problem, most likely the latter. That being the case, €100 won’t look at fixing it.
