ModeratorCustomer said she thought it had stopped heating on the wash but she carried on using it.
Not to sure about that because the heater is fine and it hasn’t thrown up any error messages or stuck in the wash cycle.
She then says “it just went off”.
Switch the mains on and the mains light and door lock light come on even though the door is not locked. No response from any other buttons, except pressing the start button lights up the progress lights then they go off again. ❓
I was going to try a new door lock but before i did I switched it on without any door lock connected and the door locked light still came on.
Main board just returned from EMW as NFF. 😕
Motor brushes and all wiring looks perfect.
Could the console PCB cause this fault, not one I have seen before?
Jim.

Already checked all heater components, a thermistor fault should not give a door locked when it isn’t fault.

What a pigging nightmare, 😥
When I first went to this machine last week it was full of water. The fact that the only thing that would happen is the mains and door lock light coming on even when door was not locked meant that I thought it had not emptied due to the aforementioned problems.
I went back today with the main PCB that had come back from EMW as NFF. :rolls:
I refitted the PCB, double checked the motor, heater, NTC etc.
I then removed the facia PCB and at first could see no problems, only a very close, up to the nose inspection revealed that the two lower legs of the tiny, start/pause micro switch were adrift.
Feeling very pleased with myself I resoldered the two legs of the switch and put it all back together.Set it to wash and the door locked, it filled, washed and the heater came on, sorted, or so I thought. 😥
Set it to spin and, nothing, zippo, zilch. Set it to a drying cycle and it filled a little, them drum revolved and the dryer fan came on. Then it started flashing lights 1 + 4, eeprom setup error. :eeek:
By this time I was ready to throw in the towel before I started to use words that my elderly customer would not take to kindly to.
I drained it manually and set it to spin and then found that the motor would run but the pump was still dead.
I then removed the wiring connector between the pump and the PCB to check for continuity, it was then that I noticed a very slight discolouration on the bottom of the PCB connector next to the two black wires that go to the pump.
At first I could see no problems on the PCB but right next to the large edge connector is a small white connection block with two AMP tags. I removed the AMP tags and prised off the small, square connection block and found that a very tiny piece of track had burnt away, possibly due to water ingress from the dryer assy above.
I cleaned it up and managed to solder a link to repair the track, and refitted the PCB.
Thankfully, after all my efforts the drain pump fired into life.
The one thing that puzzles me is how on earth EMW missed this?
Jim.

Had something akin to this before. Mention it to Tony, he’s very accomodating. BTW what’s the charge for NFF, not the same as QER presumably.

Not much, only about £6 inc vat which was accomodated in my invoice. 🙂
EMW are usually spot on, it must be the first one I have had back as NFF that did have a fault on it TBH.Jim.
