Dishwasher salt solidified in salt reservoir

Electrolux ESL6225

Went to this 6 months or so ago, with the same fault and I thought they had filled it with salt before any water was in it on installation, because it was jammed full with solidified salt, so I cleared it out and off it went.

Went back to it today and the salt container’s half full of solidified salt again, with the machine again white inside.

There’s a half full bag of Finish Dishwasher Salt in the cupboard, so they’re putting the right stuff into it.

Any ideas what’s causing this, please?

The water softener is obviously not working so it may not be regenerating.
My guess is that they put detergent in the salt pot some time in the past and if so it will be fubarred. 😥

I’d agree they have put detergent in the salt pot. We use to use a chemical which would show up purple if ther was detergent present but cant think what is was at the moment

Quick update –
I changed the decalcifier 16 months ago and warned her against putting anything apart from dishwasher salt in there.
Went back today to change the collapsed door lock and had a quick look in the salt pot and all was well.
