    Hi,

The dishwasher is beeping and flashing for a count of 4.
It did this at the beginning of the cycle. I managed to stop it beeping and carry on the cycle by pressing holding the start button down for a while (i think this is what i did!)
It beeped again during at the drying stage. No water in the bottom so I don’t think it’s a sump or drainage problem. I read a previous post from 2009 by penguin45, in it he says that it might be the that the diaphragm behind the black grid needs taking out to get access to the microswitch so that it can be cleaned.
Can anyone advise me how to get the black grid out please??
Penguin45 are you there!?? The link to the photo of the underneath of the dishwasher isn’t working. Or rather, the photo has been removed.
Does anybody have a photo of the underneath to aid me please.
Any other info on what it could be would be more that welcome,

    Thanks very much,
    RachelB

Whirlpool DWH B10W flashing 4 x and beeping

    Hi
    Please can someone help???

I have taken out the black grid with the diaphragm in and the microswitch. I have washed them, but not that much grease on them anyway. I’ve just run a wash and when it gets to the drying cycle it starts beeping and flashing 4 times. The bottom of the dishwasher is empty so I think it’s draining ok.
Does anyone have any thing else to suggest please,
    Thank you.

    Hi Rachel,

If someone can help they will. Please keep one issue to one thread as it saves a lot of confusion.

But do remember it is Sunday and a lot of people have the day off. 😉

    Re: Whirlpool DWH B10W fault.

flashing 4 times will most certainly be the diaphragm switch assembly.when you say you took it out i assume you mean properly from the outside of the sump underneath. you say that there wasn’t much grease however it doesn’t always take much.another issue can be a faulty microswitch which i have encountered a few times. you would have to test for continuity through it in the switched position. also you may not have reassembled it properly.
if it is the switch then you must buy the whole part as the spring in an ordinary but identical looking switch will be too strong.
if in doubt get someone out to do it. where i live total cost to replace part is £56.

    Re: Whirlpool DWH B10W fault.

Thank you so much for replying!

I did take it out but maybe there is still some grease so I will take it out again. I tipped the machine on it’s side, took off the panel underneath then twisted the sump to get to the sump. I took off the black grid and washed it. I also washed the floppy plastic part(diaphragm?) and then wiped the inside of the main part left in my part. I don’t think it was possible to take it apart any further. Is this correct?? I then reassmbled it (good point..maybe i didn’t do this properly). Once it was back together and before i put it back in the machine i pressed the diapraghm down and heard it click. I presumed this meant that the switch was ok.
I am a complete novice so would you mind explaing what you mean when you say that the switch can be tested for continuity?
    Thank you for your help,
    Rachel
