Thanks Steve1. How certain can you be? I can see from your profile that you are a very experienced engineer but I have been reading all the posts I can find online (for similar problems) and some seem to think it may be it may be the thermal fuse at fault.

HI
If it was the thermal fuse that had failed you would not get the red indicator lamp/neon on the facia panel lighting up, as a precaution i would replace the fan element and the thermal fuse, (you have to replace the thermal fuse with a cut out stat,as the thermal fuse is no longer avaliable
thanks

Hi Steve1.
I did read about the Safety Thermostat in the forum. I’ve never come across a thermal fuse before and I’m not sure how to go about fitting it. Do I cut out the thermal fuse and attach spade connectors to attach to thermostat? I’ll have to order an element and thermostat. Many thanks.

Just a thought. Does it matter which way the thermostat goes in?

Hi Steve and kwatt.
Sorry I forgot to let you know what happened. Well I replaced the element and the oven works just fine. I didn’t replace the cut-out because I’m not sure if it matters which way round I connect it, and the thermal fuse I’m replacing is tucked up tight against the oven rear, and I don’t know if the cut-out would be effected by the heating it would get in that position. I also would like to know if when I replaced the element I should have used something like LocTite on the screws. When I took them out I they were extremely tight. Thanks for all your help.
