I was recently called to a Stoves under top douple electric oven. Problem reported was that both ovens would not work.

Expecting it to be a normal timer setting problem I duly visited as it was an aging couple, and electronics frighen them at times. So more of a reassuring visit then a cash conversion job.

Problem turned out to be a non operational electronic timer unit,no illumination and history indicates a power surge looks like the cause of the fault.

    Question:

Why are replacement electronic parts so expensive’ but more importantly never a stock item at manufactuers or agents when you want one.

Is there anywhere or anybody able to repair electronic timers at a more affordable cost to the end user.

My client was likelyt o be without cooking for a minimum of 7 to 10 days ( if you are lucky) on quoted parts delivery. We resolved it was cheaper and much quicker to buy a mid range oven from a high street supplier than to repair a rather expensive Stoves unit. £700 quid appliance down the tip.

It would be of interest if timers are able to be re-furbrished.

Timers in general are pretty easy to by-pass and the customers barely ever use the auto function anyway. We usually give them the option, assuming we havnt got a clock gathering dust on the shelf, and charge a special fee for this, but still saving them hundred quid or so on the part.

Yup, did one on a range today, customer happy enough – left the neutral on the clock so the time works.

Mothers Creda DBIO is 25 years old, and I don’t think she’s EVER tried to set the timer! Hmm – might still work then……

Re: STOVES Timer Programmer- Electric Oven

    many thanks for replies

looks like QER may have the solution at an affordable cost they see mto cover most pcb based items.

regards linking lives from timer module, this Stoves oven is not your box standard Belling or Creda. An to compound things further my customer likes the LED clock.

    regards
