Bauknecht GSF5000 Jubilee Has developed a leak from the bottom of the door, The seal is not too good, but the leak is really because the soap is foaming up so much the foam is much higher than the seal.
The easy answer is a new seal, but I think it will only cover up the problem. Am I right please???Tim

Basics first – no-one’s put washing up liquid in, have they? Infamous and spectacular frothing problems! Next, filters and rotors are completely clear? Not using alledgedly “ecofriendly” products?
Assuming “No”, bit difficult to be absolutely sure what fault may be. Excessive quantities of rinse-aid can cause frothing problems, especially if machine is struggling to drain properly – check drain coupling if plumbed out under sink.All else failing, clean the thing out. A couple of empty, no powder runs may flush it clean; failing that, lemon juice is good or a proprietary cleaning agent might do it.
Understand that the door seal does not make a “hermetic” seal in the way that a washing machine door does, the door and seal act more as a deflector to bounce the water back into the machine.
There’s a few points for you to consider; see how you go! If you’re not winning, look in the Directories for a local UKW engineer, or pop your post code up here and someone will get back to you.

Cleaned the filter, done 2 soap free run throughs – no leaking. Even topped up the salt!
Pump works well – no problem when it comes to emptying out.
Put in a Sainsburys soap tablet Perform + Protect 3in 1 tablet and it started oozing foam again. The foam gets to around 4 to 5″ deep inside, so that it’s part way up the cutlery tray.
Can it be the tablets I’m using??

Do you have rinse aid in the machine?
If so, this can be adding to the problem.
(One manufacturer told us on a training course, if a customer is using tablets, tell them to get rinse aid and powder as they don’t rate 3 in 1 tablets. There was complete silence when I asked why they gave a sample of tablets in every dishwasher they sell).
Anyways, if you do have rinse aid in the machine, turn it to it’s lowest setting and consider changing your tablets.DP

No rinse aid being used – its supposed to be in the tablet. Have sent the boss out to buy some different tablets so will try again when she gets back! 😉
Buy a reputable brand Tim, not supermarket own label. Better still, go back to separates – powder, rinseaid and salt. You then have far more control over the machine’s washing functions.

If it says on the box it’s made by Proctor & Gamble, Lever Brothers or Benkiser then it’s pretty much safe bar liquids and 3-in-1 things, anything else avoid it like the plague! 😉
That goes for almost all products in my experience, washing machine ones as well.

Spent some time trying to find a reputable make that wasn’t 3 in 1 and they just don’t seem to do them, or else the labels are just plain miss-leading.
In the end decided to try Sainsburys tablet that wasn’t 3 in 1 and IT DOESN’T LEAK !!!!
Thanks for your help lads and I just wonder how many machines (with good seals!) are churning around with a mass of foam in the bottom, not working properly- and the users, a bit like we were, wondering why every so often the dishes were not so clean as they used to be.Thanks for your help

Glad you’ve found something that works. However the suggestion was to revert to separates – powder, rinse aid and salt into their own compartments and chambers.
The beauty of this is you can “tune” the salt and rinse aid dispensation with the machines controls and manualy adjust the powder content to achieve optimum results!
A tablet with fixed dosages dissolves over time and can deliver the separate wash components at inappropriate points in the wash.
Using the machine as it was designed will give you total control and the best results.
