ParticipantWhirlpool Top Loading wash machine
3RLSQ8533JQ1When selecting a ‘warm’ or ‘hot’ wash, the machine is taking ages to fill. The cold fill function is fine.
I checked the hot water pressure on the outside of the machine and it was really low. The machine has an external pump attached to the hot water supply. When i ran the machine on a hot fill without the hot water hose attached, i could hear this pump running running.
I was not aware of these external pumps, can anybody advise me how they work? are they a part of the machine or something a plumber would deal with?
help greatly appreciated here 😉

not part of the machine, so you need a plumber

just a suggestion swap the hot and cold inlet pipes on the back of the machine if the hot comes through ok connected to the cold side then its the valve gone, ➡ select a cold setting to test 🙂

hey, thank you both for your replies. I shall do the swapping pipes idea and probably advise they call a plumber!!! I think it is that pump at fault.

🙂Why not replace the pump yourself and make some dosh. I always use a Stuart RG250 and have no problems http://www.kgnpillinger.co.uk/_assets/documents/180.pdf
If you dont want to wire it to the machine, then use the same one but with a flow switch.

How much is the RG250, Spanner51? And the flow switch?

The last one I got was from Panks Pumps of Norwich, who are a local agent, with a trade discount it cost me £156.00 inc vat. The flow switch version, i.e. RGFL250 is about £40.00 extra.

I have never seen these external pump systems before. I guess it is a simple procedure to change if I could shut off the hot supply. As it goes, the faulty pump was wired into the machine, so wiring should not be a problem, a straight swap.
Thanks for your advice and next time i come accross this fault i may attempt the repair myself.
