I have a Hotpoint oven that’s probably 20 years old. Model 6182. I want to buy a new oven lamp for it. I’ve gathered that oven lamps are pretty much the same when it comes to their being SES fittings, but they come in such a variety of wattage that I don’t know which one to choose.

The original lamps are 40W. However, they weren’t working when I first moved into the house, so I only just discovered that my oven even had lamps fitted, which means any light will be better than what I’ve had (as in, zero!).

What else would matter if I chose, say, 15W or 25W or 40W?

    Thanks in advance.

    Re: Hotpoint Oven light

if the original was 40W you can fit a lower wattage

but the lower wattage bulbs are shorter and that means the light will not only be less dur to lower wattage but the filament in the lamp will not be in the middle of the glass lens giving even less light.
moral fit the right lamp must be meant for an oven

    correct lamp here
