ParticipantHi
Immediately at the end of a wash cycle in my Miele dishwasher (G1143SC), foam remains though it dissipates about 10 mins later. After going through the trouble shooting steps with Miele support, it appears this is caused by Fairy rinse aid. The dishwasher is set to use the recommended dosage of 3ml rinse aid, if i lower the dosage (or use none at all), then there’s no foam left over but then the dishes don’t dry properly. I’ve tried other rinse aid brands but they don’t dry the dishes as well as Fairy does. I use Tesco’s own cheap dishwasher power (3kg) which lasts me a couple of months and cleans well…it would cost far too much to use all-in-one tablets so will stick with dishwasher powder. I live in a very soft water area.
Miele have kindly agreed to send me 1 litre of their own brand rinse aid free of charge to see if this cures the foam problem ,hopefully this should do the job as well as the Fairy brand but without the excessive foam. In the event that it doesn’t work as well, are their any alternatives to using rinse aid? In the dishwasher user manual it says you can use vinegar (white wine?) instead but surely my dishwasher would then smell of a chippy? Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks 🙂

Easy tip: If you are using those 3 in 1, 5 in 1 tablets there’s no need to add rinse aid in at all…… 😉

But they would cost a small fortune as i use my dishwasher at least twice a day. Also i can adjust the dishwasher powder dosage based on the load (sometimes i run a quickwash), whereas i would be forced to use a whole tablet for even small loads.

Heaven forbid, we can’t have that then…back to the drawing board for me. :rolls:

Cut the tablet in half maybe?
I did this in my sisters slimline dishwasher and it worked well.

In my opinion the only option you have is an all in one, we are in a very soft water area here and alot of people suffer with alot of foam in the machine because the softness of the water it doesnt react the same as a hard water.I don’t think the tabs are really that expencive anyway , not when you add up the amount of rinse aid you use , that stuff ain’t cheap. Also if you can afford a Mile machine then you could prob. spend a couple of quid extra a month on some decent all in one tabs 😉

….and using tesco own brand powder in your machine is possibly going to mean a very expensive miele service call is more likely to happen sooner than later. Like running a rolls royce on 2 stroke petrol 😆

Thanks for your replies guys. Looks like i will have to switch to an all-in-one detergent. The only ones i know of are Finish and Fairy…which one would you recommend?
Finish All in One Dishwasher Lemon 56’S @ £6

Why do you say that? The powder gets the dishes clean and hasn’t caused any problems (i regularly clean the filter, spray arms and run a 75 deg wash per month with fairy dishwasher cleaner).

Contrary to my colleagues opinion on Tesco Tabs I would say, with little fear of factual contradiction, that they are the perfect choice. 🙂
