Now I did spend ages last night trying to do a search but gave up in the end when the only results I could get were for ‘Whirpool’ 😥

Customer says it runs for five or six minutes then Service light flashes and it drains out.

Pump and motor both run, fill valves check out. Heater appears perfect.

Seemed to run up to spin speed OK.

Set it to run plugged into my meter and the heater came on after a few minutes, it appeared to be washing correctly.

One thing I did notice was that it was drawing over 5amps without the heater on, just tumbling on a wash action with no load, that seems a little high to me.

I was a bit pushed for time due to post holiday backlog and would welcome any suggestions as to possible cause. 🙂

    TIA Jim.

could be way off the mark. reading your post i’ve a feeling i heard a mate of mine tell me that the thermistor wires can fail in the plug. ie appear ok but be held on by sleeve with conductor inside broken. couldn’t contact him tonight for confirmation.

Thanks Keith, I do now have a copy of the test procedure, courtesy of a kind Scottish gentleman so I will report back after I have run that. 🙂

I recon the heater insulation is breaking down after a few mins. Service LED flashing on start or after a few minutes in my experience anyway have been duff heaters.

    Re: Whirlpool ‘service light’

Turned out to be a duff motor, only showed up when it ramped right up to full speed during the test cycle, brushes not fully worn, that would explain why I was getting over 5amps on my meter when the motor was running on a wash cycle.

Anyone know the part number/price of the motor?

    Jim.
