Participanthi, i have an “old” wm11p problem is after the wash cycle has finished the timer seems to have a mind of its own and starts again. and sometimes the wash goes on and on unless the timer is moved manually, and sometimes it can complete cycle and finish ok. do these timer wear over time or is it possible/dangerous to lubricate the “click” mexhanism. its an old gem and spotless, would be a shame to dump.

check for blockages in pressure circuit or pressure switch
a lot of old machines if pressure switch stuck just starts prog again

Thanks,
removed the pressure switch, clicks as normal when i blow in it,does that tell me its ok. can i try one from another model. also blew down the pressure hose to drum, air passing through,no blockage. cheersJune 16, 2011 at 8:36 am #353607electrofix

you have to also check the number of clicks some have 1 2 or 3 stages
this one looks like a 2 stage ( should have term numbers 11,12,13 + 21,22,23 ) therfore it should click twice. the problem, if there is one, will be on the lower set (11,12,13). As the water drains out if the lower one does not drop out some machines can run on.
try just a spin see if it runs on then. if no then prog is prob ok. then try last rinse and spin see if it does it then. if it does try it again but this time during spin give the switch a tap. its a case of trial and error but you have to get the correct switch for your machine otherwise you have to adjust all the perameters of the switch and that can take timeDave
I think EMW test and recon these timers you could ask them

dont fully understand about the stages/clicks/term numbers but i tried the spin only and tapping pressure switch.i have run all cycles many times since and machine still runs on occasionally, for example worked fine on 40 wash twice but on 3rd wash, ran on. Same when i use spin only,ok sometimes then runs on occasionally. could i take it from this its most likely the timer.
EMW sell these timers, reasonable price. the pressure switch for this perticular machine is quite expensive.
Many thanks for your help. -
