ParticipantHey all,
Yet another quesation about a Zanussi, hope I’m not being too much of a pain.
I went to a Zanussi ZWF1440W the other day, the customer saying the machine would not spin every time she tried, infact it was intermittent working once every 6-8 times she tried. The machine seemed to not move off of the 10 minute mark when that cylce was selected.
The brushes showed signs of wear. So I changed these, set the spin program and it worked first time. Tried twice more and everything appeared good.
Off I went thinking job done but a day later the customer called back to say the same thing was happening a again, taking 6 or so attempts to get the spin program to kick in when selected.
She noted that the ‘1400 spin’ and ‘spin’ leds both tunred off and the interlock opened when the spin program didn’t operate. Could any of you point me in the right direction to as to where to look on this one?
Yours as always,
Mark

No and that is an oversight on my part, thanks. Will venture down tomorrow. Not at home at the moment, the details are in the fault code booklet for this one aren’t they?

Further to my last post I went to the property today to have another look at the machine. Looks like this is going to be one to cut my teeth on in a way.
The customer it appears has never been happy with the machine, even though it’s only 3 years old they have had a new motor under warranty, a new door seal and issues with conditioner not releasing into the drum. She told me they are opting for a new machine.
I’d still like to solve the problem in the hope it will enlighten me a little more to Zanussi and their diagnostics.
During today’s visit I put it into the test mode, what I wasn’t so sure abbout was how long you’re meant to leave the machine in each section of the test before moving the selector on? I tried it today leaving each section of the test for about a minute before moving to the next stage.
I did obtain an error message ‘E32’ which according to the bible is an inconsistency between the electronic pressure switch and anti-boiling pressure switch.
Without wanting to spend any time on the machine without some advice from you all does this sound like a reasonable explaination as to why the machine is doing what it’s doing?
Both before and after the test mode I tried the spin and on cue it set itself to 10 minutes, door locks, pump operates, 6-7 seconds later the 1400 and spin leds go out the pump stops, door opens and the display shows 0.
It’s basically a machine to learn on but would love to zap it for my own pride, plus the customer might be able to pass it on.

my hunch is its loose wiring in the loom to the pcb. u need to crimp up all the terminals, zanussi wiring doesnt have a lot of freedom nto move, and changing the brushes might have been enough to wiggle the connection to sit properly. or alternatively, with the motor being replaced already, it could be the motor to loom joint, crimp this too
i agonised over a 1650 few months ago which would intermittantly work, and turns out thats what was the cause. it was coming up with e32 and e31 errors.
sounds like an awkward customer tho, conditioner not going into the drum tends to be soap powder overspilling in the draw into the conditioner one and clogging the syphoning system. bet she has dbl concentrate conditioner too…

take it you have checked for any blockages in pressure circuit
the fault is actually a disagreement between the old type pressure switch and the new digital type (ie one say full the other says empty)
if you are just selecting spin it may not occur try selecting a rinse and spin if you are not alreadyDave
