ParticipantHi. My DC05 started malfunctioning during vaccum. There was a strong burning smell, loss of vaccum power, sound changed from normal to low as if the motor was struggling.
Stopped it and checked to find that the on off switch was very hot. Later opened the container and the filter below the container was black from the smoke probably.
Has the motor failed or what could be the issue?
Is it worth repairing or should I get a new one?
If new, then recommend a bagless option please.
Thanks for your help.Sanjeev

it does sound like your motor has gone you need to find a local repairer who will give you an estimate for repair
you have then to look at the cleaner and all its hoses and brushes etc and work out if it is viable or not. if you change motor you will have a good cleaner provided all the accessories are ok
as for new i like the numatic but its a bagged cleaner. they make a pink one now called a Hetty for around £100.
if you want bagless their is really only dyson or cheap rubbishDave

agree with that but DC05 is a cylinder model so it wont replace that

A Sebo X4 Extra. A BS36 is too harsh for certain types of domestic carpet. 😉
Either way nothing can out perform a Sebo, the cylinder machines are excellent too!
