ParticipantHi All,
I’m new to this (having only found this site while trying to find out whats wrong with my dishwasher).
We got the dishwasher with the house and its a couple of years old. Already the plastic casing that houses the controls has cracked and had to be replaced. Now it’s stopped heating the water (the error codes from the control panel indicate that, (and it has obviously stopped washing properly.
So far as I can see there are three possible causes.
1. The heating element has stopped heating
2. The thermostat is faulty
3. The control board has stopped sending the the control to heat itGiven that the control board obviously recognises a problem it’s probably one of the first two.
So my questions are, how much are these components likely to cost? and how easy are they likely to be fit ?
Thanks
CWB

You may be pleasantly surprised to find that the stat has tripped out. With the power off, remove the bottom 2 screws in the panel giving you access to the underside of the machine. You won’t need to remove the dishwasher.
If you look inside the dishwasher, (where the dishes go) tou will see the element, and on the left hand side, near the front the stat.
Reach inside the machine where the underside of the stat is and you’ll find that there is a small red button. push this, and if it clicks, you’ve fixed it!
Have you by any chance used any cleaning method which has caused the dishwasher to foam excessively? This will cause the trip-out.
PULL THE PLUG FIRST!

Just thought I’d mention that it was me who posted the above reply but I was signed in as guest! Not that it is important, but it is better to show who has made the post if they are a member of the site

Thanks WasherDoctor, it worked. It’ll have saved me a fortune as my local repair man would have chaged 50 quid to come out 🙂
I don’t remember any excess foaming but we use the dishwasher tablets and about the time it started to not heat the tablet didn’t disolve. I put it down to the water not being hot enough.
I did take the rotating water spray things out and gave them a good clean as well. I found a sticker from one of the childrens toys inside one of the nozzles!
Thanks again

Hi Washdoctor
Hope you can help me too !!
I have a Diplomat ADP8112 which has also stopped heating the water.
I got excited when I found this thread especially as my little red button seemed to click when pressed.
Unfortunately it is still not heating the water, is the next move to replace the element ?
Is it easy to get the element out ? I could see where the wires go in by looking into the front of the machine but couldn’t see how the element is help in place ?
Hope you can help
Regards
Dave

ParticipantYour next move would be to establish if the element is actually at fault. If you are comfortable and safe using test equipment this can be done easily, if you have any doubts at all, send for an engineer.
You can check in the Directories section for a local UKW engineer, or pop your postcode up and someone will pick up on it.
Do nothing to the machine without pulling the plug first.

KeymasterTina,
Often if the element goes you’ll see it as they tend to “pop” with visible damage, but that’s obviously not always the case. The element can easily be checked with a multi-meter.
The reset, if there is one fitted, is underneath the thermostat itself.
