ParticipantMorning all,
I have a BEKO WM5120 W washing machine which was working fine till last weekend, now when on the wash cycle or the spin cycle the drum spins a couple of times and then stops, the Machine itself is not quite 2 years old.
It seams there is no ramp/soft start on the motor and it’s trying to start on full spin speed, as soon as the drum starts to turn it becomes unbalanced and the machine halts the program to avoid any damage.
Have had an engineer give it a quick look over and was told it was either a problem with the motor or the control PCB (pretty much the conclusion I had come to myself)
Can anyone shed any further light as to which it is most likely to be as for a new motor or PCB there both around £60 a pop so would rather get the right part 1st time.
Or is there any other tests I can perform on the machine to narrow down the cause of the fault, I’M an electrician so this isn’t a million miles away from my day job.
Many thanks,
Steve.

Most likely a broken tacho magnet on the motor that’s failed I would think. (The gizmo on the opposite end of the drive pulley.)

Morning all,
Sorry for the delay in replying and thanks for your suggestions, I haven’t checked it myself but I’M 99{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} sure the engineer checked that and thought it was OK, do you think its worth changing anyway, I don’t think that part is all that expensive?
Many thanks,

Morning all
Checked it myself this morning and it would appear as suggested the tacho magnet has split into 3 pieces, obviously the fella who looked at it for me didnt check it very well, any ideas where I can find a new magnet, cant seam to locate one in the parts list on here.
Many thanks,
Steve

Yes, had same problem with Beko WM5120. Been advised Tacho magnets are not available for this Beko. I glued magnet back together onto the motor shaft with two part epoxy metal. Worked fine and still going. So far so good! 😀
