Diplomat ADP 8352 Power but no Programmes

My power light comes on in the machine but I cannot select any programmes. The last time the machine was working it was making a weird screeching noise and there was a smell of melting plastic so I switched it off.

I have tried cleaning the filter, which was already clean, tried leaaving it switched off over night and also checked that there is no water in the tray below the door.

Any help would be appreciated.
