KeymasterHi,
I have a Bosch WFR2460 Maxx-IT washing machine that has developed a fault. When turning the dial to switch the machine on, the LCD display lights up but either no display or random characters appear followed by a clicking sound. The clicking sounds sometimes happens for a few seconds sometime just the once. On occasion switching off and on again brings the machine back to life but then switching off on again brings back the problem. This sounds to me like possibly (although though I hope not) a duff controller board… looking at the parts diagram it seems there isn’t much else in terms of electronics in there!
I’ve looked on the Bosch web site and seen the price of a replacement (120 quid) so I donβt want to buy a board and swap it if it could be something else.
Any advice would be very much appreciated.
Many Thanks in advance.Craig

ParticipantBad luck Craig, sounds definitely electronics to me. The worse bit is the Β£120 (ish) is plus vat and p+p. However, think this through. Why has the board failed? Any blown tracking immediatley suggests external faults which must be investigated – heater, motor etc.
From your description the fault is slightly erratic so it is just feasible that there is a dry solder joint on the board. A careful visual inspection may reveal this.
However, if you have any doubts as to your own abilities, check the Directories section for a local UKW engineer, or, stick your postcode up in here and someone will pick up on it.
Whatever you do, PULL THE PLUG FIRST!

Craig,
It will almost certainly be board failure (usually the rotary switch unit on the PCB fails).
As this model only came out from 2001 it may be covered by an extended parts warranty π so do check with BSH Appliance Care Ltd first. π

Hi….
Just wanted to say I fitted a replacement board (140 all in) from Bocsh directly. π―
Well thankfully all is now fine. So thanks for the replys, I did check my warrenty BTW but my machine was just 3 years old (I must have bought it when it first came out). …I bought Bosch thinking I would have worry free washing…oh well, at least I was able to do it myself and save a few quid.
Cheers,Craig
