Can anyone shed any lights on Beko washing machines?

Just that I have a client asking for the cheapest washing machine with the budget of £200 that will fit on her list of criteria.

I narrowed it down to two makes – Beko and Indesit.

In terms of features, it looks like Beko trumps Indesit.

Where is Beko from and how long has it been around? I mean where was it manufactured?

Beko Are Turkish. In my opinion they are very good value for money. Bargain basement. Simply made but not badly made and parts are cheap. No issues with not being able to programme boards without the right kit if it needs one and they don’t seem to give weird head-scratching faults. I would personally not give any current Indesit/Hotpoint appliance space in my house

An Amica may be a better alternative than either of the above.

I sell Amica and if you want to make £50 you are selling at £237.00.
(Thats for the 1200 spin model.)

Yes but with Amica you get a two year guarantee so can command a higher RRP. We make less margin on Amica than Bosch but we also get the guarantee work for Amica so swings and roundabouts.

Beko were good machines for the money but the new ones are predominantly sealed tubs and, although better than Indesit, bearings aren’t the best.

Very true in theory but if your budget is £200 then Amica are out of reach. Also customers will see Hotpoints online for £250.

    Re: What’s Beko are like?

    Cheers guys,

I was given a budget of £200 to buy a new washing machine. As I said earlier that I narrowed it down to Beko, after visiting the trade counter, it looks like the discounts on Beko are smaller than the likes of higher end appliances. I wonder what’s the discounts on Miele and the markup on it? Mind you my supplier’s do sell it but I have not enquired about it!

I have not worked out the percentages but the figures speaks for itself.. I can get a standard 1000 rpm from Beko for £127.60 plus VAT but the RRP is around £179.99 leaving me with £26.87 in my pockets if I am to compete with larger chains. Very little margin on this but I was told it’s a high volume as they sell more of it compared with the alternative like Indesit. Although I think I can get bigger discounts on Indesit/Hotpoint but they get bad ratings compared with Beko. Now I am faced with a challenge of Daewoo and HomeKing although Samsung seems a good contender if I can persuade my client to spend a little extra – All have great discounts but I am not familiar with the brand.

I discovered that no matter what I buy from the supplier, I would get around £20 to £25 mark up on each machine. So I will look into how to recoup the margin such as introducing connection charge to make it worthwhile.

I could say the appliance is £200, and add connection fee on top of that?

As for Amica, I don’t get these through my usual suppliers.

Both Portway and Swift deliver nationwide for free.

I’d pick a scrubbing board and sink over a Beko. 😆
