ParticipantAn Indesit WIL103UK has come my way to play with. It fails as it trys to go into spin and the delay start light flashes which I assume means the heater relay is faulty. Not into these things at component level but assume this is an item on the PCB but where and how easy is it to change?

if it is the heater relay no problem
follow heater wires one of them will go back to the board and the connection will lead you to a small black square unit soldered to the pcb ( some can be white )
first check you have not got bad solder joints on the relayDave

I wondered!
Leads me to a white component marked OMRON G5LB-1-25. Soldering seems ok so must be worth a go, is this the sort of thing Maplin sells?Cheers,

Maplin sell just one 240v relay but Farnell and RS have many and varied types.

i use either
or
farnell.co.uk
somewhere on the relay it will give a coil voltage and contact rating

Cheers, guys.
Struggling a little as I don’t seem to be able to find an exact match. RS suggest part 683 9160 (G5LE instead of G5LB) but then ask me if I think it’s suitable and I haven’t the foggiest! Also minimum quantity is 5!
Thoughts anyone?

Ok Been in touch with RS and they say that whilst the delivery charge is shown on the invoice it wasn’t actually charged, minimum order on this item is 5.
But…………new relays have arrived and they have only 4 pins, orginal has 5. That can’t be right can it?!!

If you look carefully at the old relay and board, you’ll probably find that the, “missing leg” wasn’t actually connected to anything.

For the hell of it I have fitted one of the new relays to the board and I get no motor action at all now and light 4 flashing instead indicating motor tiac fault, looking at the PCB the 5th leg was attached to something. Dave’s pdf seems to suggest there should still be 5 pins on the new relay. All I can do is go back to RS and see what they say. Good fun this component lark!

According to data sheet (quick pdf download below picture of component) it looks like you have G5LE-1A (SPNO) which has only 4 legs. Best try G5LE-1 (SPDT) 399-8225 .
