    Hello,

When I swith on my machine at the mains, the screen briefly activates then goes dark. No error code is displayed and no LEDs light up anywhere.

I had to change the drum bearings, upon turning on again all seemed fine. I started a wash it took water but the drum did not turn, I switched off and double checked all connections and found the motor connector was not connected properly, I corrected this and switched on again, all lights were on so I stated the wash again, it took water and the drum rotated as normal, after 3-4 rotations it stopped and all displays and lights turned off.

I’ve checked the mains plug fuse, OK, checked the panel visualy for blown components, nothing obvious, checked the power motor supply board visualy again nothing obvious.

I’m stuck as what todo next and would appreciate any information about what might be wrong.

    Regards,
    Mike

if you are sure that all the wires are in the correct place and that all of them are tight then answer me these questions
when the display goes dead if you go close to it can you still see any lights there
    have you tried another socket
does the door remain locked while the display is dead or unlock after a few minutes
if you unplug it and re plug it does it come straight back on or do you have to leave it unplugged for a bit

The display is still dark as though it is not even switched on.

    have you tried another socket

We just tried a different socket and didn’t get any display at all but i think i still heard a single click noise.

When we went back to the original socket and turned it on we heard several popping noises comming from the rear somewhere before we turned it off quickly and haven’t tried to turn it on again.

does the door remain locked while the display is dead or unlock after a few minutes

We could freely open and close the door when it was turned on, ie no lock activated.

if you unplug it and re plug it does it come straight back on or do you have to leave it unplugged for a bit

We did not need to unplug it no, but the LCD parts that made up the numbers/words etc only highlighted on the initial switch on and after that only the backlight on the panel flashed for a moment. And just to confirm none of the dials or buttons have any lights around them at any point.

Oh dear!….sounds like the main power board (back r/hand side) has failed then. 🙁

    Re: Hotpoint WT960P not working

i would imagine the main pcb has failed possibly got wet during the work

remove the module and inspect it for signs of damage with a popping noise usually very obvious damage

unplug and leave the machine ten minutes and make a brew first before touching the module they have a nasty habit of shocking even when unplugged

    Re: Hotpoint WT960P not working

I’ve checked the display panel and the power board no obvious problems, I’ve also checked the power on point and the water heater, both seem OK.

I can only think it’s the power board at the bottow right hand side, but reluctant to replace unless I know what made it blow, unless it was the silly motor plug mistake in the begining, the bit that’s throwing me is that it started to work OK then stopped, not sure what to try next!
