My Miele washing machine is making a terrible banging noise when spinning if it has heavier items in it – such as towels (not overloaded). This doesn’t happen if I wash fewer things at a time. My husband thinks it’s the bearings, can we buy new bearings for him to fit?

Miele callout is very expensive and washing machine is 10+ years old I think.

    Any advice gratefully received

    Thanks

if the bearings have gone it will make quite a noise even with nothing in it and there may be rusty water leaking from the bearing housinjg at the rear
if the bearings have gone its a big job to take the whole tub out of the machine

also check shock absorbers they get looser with age and machine will bounce more making more noise on heavier loads
this is a much simpler job if thats what is wrong

also search on this site for an engineer near you that will be much cheaper than Miele

What could it be if it only happens with more weight in it and only noisy when spinning?

    Thanks

shocks but it could be a weight come loose or anything else

    take plug OUT !

    take lid off machine

put your hand in the middle of the tub and push down. if you can bounce it up and down easily like a ball then shocks are worn.

    hope it helps
