ParticipantI have Whirlpool ADG 450 Slimline Dishwasher that will not start a program. On selection of a program and closing the door all that happens is the machine starts to pulse by starting for a second then stopping for a second alternately. It just keeps doing this until turned off. When it does this it seems to draw a small quantity of water in and then shoots it out. There is a proper water supply and all connections have been checked.Anyone with any ideas please ?
Thanks
Chris

its the programmer or more specifically the power supply to the programmer. its not uncommon and happens with age.
its a component on the printed circuit board inside the programmer to fix yourself you would have to confident in removing and replacing soldered electronic components
if you cant do it yourself if you find an engineer through this site i will help him or post the board to me

Thanks a lot Dave, I thought I had narrowed it down to the main control board as having checked everything else and found nothing else thought it must be the Programmer PCB. I’ve had it out and can see no blown component but presume a chip is suffering from amnesia!
I’m in the Copier industry and feel I could probably unsolder and replace a component if I knew what it was and where to get it. I’ve ordered a new board from E Spares but can send it back within 14 days of it’s arrival as it’s £130.00. Any further advice would be helpful.
Appreciate your help.

if i am right there will be a capacitor on the board normally either grey or blue in colour. looks like an oblong block with 2 wire soldered into the board
if you look at the side of it there will be writing
275v or more plus a value in microfarads they are normally either 1uF or 1.5uFif you cant find it post good picture of the component side of the board and i will spot it for you

Yes Dave, I have identified this component. Is this the sort of thing that’s available from Maplin ?
Chris
PS.
As a matter of interest the two spade connections on the board that supply the power look slightly tarnished on the tips as though they may have got a bit hot at some point. Certainly the connector was a bit difficult to remove due to possible slight welding.July 30, 2011 at 1:55 pm #356352electrofix

………seems to come up with about 188 options. Were the capacitors you ordered the same as you are suggesting I need as I thing the search needs refining some how ?
