Hi, I have a Siemens Single Oven HB75AB550B. When I turned it on last night, there was a flash/pop inside, and the 20A mcb fuse tripped in the mains box. I assumed it must be the bulb (yes it was blown), so replaced it with a new one, reset the fuse, and reset the oven clock.

All seemed ok, the oven appears to work fine, but the light doesn’t come on. I tried a second bulb (both are good) with no luck. What could be the problem?

Note that the fan works, the fan element, bottom element, and grill elements all work. When I switch to light only, there is a relay ‘click’ but no light. I’ve pulled out the bulb socket unit and checked the wires – all 3 (2 + Earth) are attached, and clean. Socket is also clean.

Is there a fuse inside just for the light? Or is there something else which would stop the light coming on? I’d be grateful for any help.

from what you have said you have probably blown the circiut board. It may be repairable depending on the skill of the enginner you get out. Otherwise its a new board which is around £70 plus p&p etc from siemens

    Thanks for the reply Dave.

That’s the way I was thinking, some component on a circuit board having blown. We are using the oven as normal and everything is working perfectly so it clearly can’t be a major fault. Many thanks for your help.

I had the same problem and managed to fix it.

If you remove the top cover of the oven to view the PCBs inside there is a control board with a bunch of white relays on it towards the left hand side as you look at the oven, there are two tiny surfacemount fuses or links and mine had both gone open circuit and had cleari blown, probably the terminals of the bulb shorted under failure and cause the short and there is no fuse inside to compensate for this. I replaced them with similar fuses and now it all works perfectly and everything is fine.
