ModeratorI am more or less certain that the facia PCB is at fault, just wondered if anyone else had come across this fault.
Machines switches on, you can select a programme and press start.
All of the lights light up correctly, door locked etc and away it goes without any problems.
If you then try to cancel it or reset it to another programme all of the lights go out including door lock and mains light.
It will then have no response to any button presses. It continues on washing away merrily with no lights displayed.
Even unplugging makes no difference, it still continues its wash programme without any lights on as soon as you plug it back in.
I examined the facia PCB, resoldered the connections to the On/Off and Start/Pause micro switches and tightened the connector block to no avail.
Customer reports that this has been happening for some time, if they do a wash and then try to do another it is totally dead with no lights on, leave it an hour or so and it works again. They called me in because they have been having to leave it for several hours before it will work for a second wash. :con:

i would not assume its the facia panel since the power to this panel is supplied from main board
Take it you have tried the plug onto the lower board these have a habit of bad connections. If thats not it send both boards to EMW. That way they can test as a pair and repair whichever is faultyI always send both boards had an aqualtis and thought it was lower board but it checked ok and had to send top board in making job take longer and more expensive

Yes, checked all connections. I am not sure having never come across a fault like this but I have my doubts as to whether or not any faults would show up under the test conditions used by EMW.
I have a WMA 1604321 PCB that EMW have tested twice for a motor triac fault and they can find nothing wrong with it, reportedly even changing the triacs the second time and yet when it was put back into the machine the motor fires on and off rapidly then aborts, the error codes reveal a motor triac fault. This is in a machine that has a brand new motor and wiring harness fitted, fitting a different PCB cured the fault so although I do use EMW quite a lot they do occasionally get ones that they cannot fathom. I was £12.00 out of pocket for the two test fees and eventually had to fit a new module to effect the repair.

yes know what you mean its the intermittant faults that cause more headaches
at least with the 1604321 board its plug and play and with only 1 board you cant get it wrong
went to a wf440 recently fault showing triac short. tried new triac on off chance to no avail. sent boards to emw and they repaired the display panel. i would not have guessed that one. put board back in all fineyour current fault sound like a power prob to top board just a bit weird that it does not do it till try to cancel or reselect prog. if you have done so already just glance at the main board looking for blown caps or dry joints. after that it could be a problem you then need another facia to swop. not sure if you can plug in another facia from a different model as a test to see if you get same fault ( you could ask emw if it will cause any damage)

I’m pretty certain that forum member johnnyj has mentioned that he often plugs in a spare facia pcb regardless of model as a test.
Customer has just phoned back and is going down the Merloni 5 year parts warranty route. 😥

Would love to hear what the franchisee(?) does to effect a fix.
