During the weekend when I was using my oven it stopped working half way through cooking. The time clock still worked and the orange light above the mode selection knob but the red light above the temperature knob didn’t work as well as the light and temperature inside the oven. After 10 minutes the oven started working again but I noticed when turned on it was very silent so I guess it has something to do with the thermostat and fan cooling device.

If anyone recognises this problem I’d be grateful for some help. I’m guessing it involves just replacing a fried thermostat but any advice regarding parts would be very welcome.

By the way my oven is about 7 years old, and I was just wondering if this is a common fault with AEG ovens?

    Thanks

    Jon

I suspect I need the the same part, as my oven also cuts out and won’t work until it cools a bit.

However, my model is not in the list, so I’d appreciate confirmation that “8996619267611 – AEG & Electrolux Oven Cooling Fan Control” is the part I need.

Re: AEG Competence Oven stops working

in your case the whole oven is controlled by a computer so does not use the same relay
not seen many of these but it seems like a similar problem. you need to check if the cooling fan is running. it may be jammed or not turning fast enough
