Hi, I have a 9 year old AEG LAV88840 which is displaying C7 intermittently. I have had our local repair round who has shown us how to clear the code using a the dial and combination of buttons. This works for a while but then the error returns. He is now suggesting that is could be the Main PCB that has a fault and should be replaced. Any thoughts on this rather than say the heating element, thermostat etc..?

If it is the PCB that needs to be replacemed I would sadly scrap the machine. On my shopping list are:

    1. Miele W-5740
    2. ISE W1607W

Any thoughts on which to go for? I have read a few reviews and both seem excellent but the Miele is more ‘main stream’ whereas the ISE is recommend more by people-in-the-know. Any help would be appriecated on both topics.

    Thanks

    Matt

The error indicates that with little doubt the fault lies with the Heating Element. Stick a new one of those in and you’re good for another 9 years!!!!! 😀

Thanks Martin for the quick response.

I’ve looked on the spares part of the website and it seems to be one of these ‘Model: 1321020214’ for a replacement heating element.

I like a bit of the DIY challenge but also know when a professional is required. Is this something I can have a go at?

Also whilst the machine is having ‘surgery’ is it worth changing anything else?

    Thanks again.

    Matt
