ParticipantHi,
Given time I’m usually able to fix problems with many of our home appliances, PCs and gadgets. I haven’t done a dishwasher (this is ~10 yro) before and would like to speed up the process (not least because I don’t like washing up by hand too often!).
Can’t find anything too useful on the web in the way of electrical circuits or exploded diagram.
Main problem is not pumping water out (sudden onset). Tried different sequence positions. Motor/pump? hums at same time. Syphoned out dirty water & cleaned up. Plastic waste outlet hose is clear. Allowed to fill again but still not emptying.
I believe I need to look for blocked or faulty pump and then maybe check wash motor. I’d like some advice on accessing/ removing these parts as the surrounding space is pretty limited.
I’ve removed the top laminated board, rear panel(s) and both side panels and can see the pump and motor. Also should I attempt to clean out the flat clear plastic bagatelle-like wash circulation matrix on the LHS as there is some brown gunge visible in some compartments. Don’t know about removing it though – Looks a bit of a risk not to damage possibly brittle pipes & seals to various hoses though :hmm:
Probably not related to above – I also noticed cream/ light brown coloured dry powdery deposits along the top edge of the black damping/ insulation? material and either side of the vertical black water hose to top sprinkler, on the rear RHS side of the washing compartment. It seems to have come through the joint between the top and side(s)of the stainless wash compartment and is present a bit on the other sides’ top seams. I guess it’s a mixture of washing powder and limescale.
The other strange thing was brown sticky waxy deposits on the black rubber elbow going from the pump to the waste pipe connection. This seemed as if it could have dripped from the black damping material. I don’t think either of these deposits (which I have now cleaned off) have occurred recently. I’m wondering whether the wash compartment could have got hot enough to melt gunge out out the damping material during a previous fault and is it likely to happen again?
Thanks for your time answering.

Thanks for the replies guys 😮
After turning the machine over I noticed the rounded bright metal panel below the door hinge, which after removing two screws came away easily. This provided easier access to the pump and its hose clips. After removal I turned the two halves of the pump casing against each other to open. Inside was a crumpled thin plastic round disc (a lid? originally about 50mm dia) that had got in somehow and jammed the paddles rotor.
After removing it I measured the drain pump motor winding resistance at 170 ohms and then connected a variac. Wound the volts up slowly to 230VAC and it ran smoothly. Hoses are clear so I hope it all works on re-assembly.
Hope this helps someone sometime.PS Would still like advice on how/ whether worthwhile attempting to clean out the side-mounted spray water dispenser mixer matrix (or whatever it’s properly called).

Just don’t turn it upside down.
the side-mounted spray water dispenser mixer matrix (or whatever it’s properly called).
The IWMS (inlet water management system)
I have heard of people removing this and flushing it out with drain cleaner, Mr Muscle or similar but it is not an easy thing to clean out.
TBH, if you have tipped the machine fully upside down I would put it all back together and see if it will run properly first.
The signs of gunge dripping off here and there are not uncommon on older machines TBH.

Decided to drain and then flush the “IWMS”. Not difficult to remove from the side of the machine.
The 4 water out feed spigots slide out of their grommeted machine mounted inlets without difficulty. Surprised to see so much dried-on brownish calcium deposit in the plastic base tray moulding. Also strange that part of the side of the IWMS was open (by design)to the air – still this allowed me to blast out most of the brown crusty deposits in it with my garden hose sprayer set on single jet (I got soaked too).
Fortunately it all went back OK after cleaning and the machine seems to work OK. Wife is happy again and I’m back to loading /unloading it!
