ParticipantModel JLFSMFC601 duel fuel freestanding cooker. The top oven lower element is open circuit and there is what apears to be an inline diodethat is also blown – can’t find the part number on any exploded views …..anyone know the value please? I was hoping to maybe pick one up at Maplin.
CHEERS! 😀

getting a diode should not be a problem choose a diode with a suitable piv ( peak inverse voltage) say 600v and then get one to take the current being drawn.
you say the diode is inline ? in series with the element?
cant see that somehow why would you halfwave a supply to an element cutting its output to 50{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}
i dont know this cooker but you would need to figure out what this diode is doing and why

Looking at diagram & parts listing – As you say No diode shown
The only part I can see is Thermo-Regulator 16A pt No. 50252853002Colin

have not got acess to diags etc and qualtex and connect have very few parts listed for this model. part number for thermo is not listed on either supplier
its not a thermal fuse is ? that would make more sense ie if element overheats it turns it off

Sorry guys…..only just picked up replies! It is DEF a diode and it was in some heat proof sleeving. I managed to pick one up from maplins as Dave suggested with a 600v piv.
BUT I don not have a clue why the diode was there??? I stupidly just chopped it out thinking it was a thermal fuse so didn’t note which way it was (WHOOPS) I assumed it would be a straight forward fix and didn’t take too much notice (Whoops again) The diode as I recall was inline on the live supply to the top oven base element…….I have never seen this before!
Will update soon ……Hopefuly 🙂

the anode should be the element end while the cathode should point at the selector switch, in plain english, the new diode should have a line marked on it which should “face” the swtich.
Produced by Lofra which probably explains a lot!August 23, 2011 at 8:58 am #357197trotter

Still waiting for technical to come up with an answer….I will post again when resolved 🙂

THIS you will love! although the oven is only two years old the part required (Diode) is no longer available!!! I was told to go to the customer service team who then said my customer would have to have a service force engineer visit to confirm that the part was faulty and unavailable …..How much for the visit? depending where she is in the country anything from £50 to £100!
Do I fit my own diode sourced from maplins? -
