I’m thinking of replacing my gas hob with either a ceramic or induction hob, purely for ease of cleaning. Since I know very little about them I’d like to solicit your opinions about them. Any good/bad experiences or horror stories?

    Many thanks.

    Hi kwilby

Installation requirements may determine which type of hob would be suitable.

Induction hobs cannot be fitted directly above an oven as there is not enough gap to achieve the airspace required for the fans to run. In this instance you would have to have a ceramic hob top.

Is it a standard 4 plate 60 cm ish wide hob required?

What sort of budget are you thinking of?

Sorry to answer your question with yet more questions 🙂

Hi Don, thanks for replying. Yes it’s a 4 plater that I’m after, up to about £400. It’s going above an oven so I guess that’s the induction type out, which is a shame, I quite fancied one of those.

    Hi

Sorry to dissapoint, but rather you knew up front than have problems later.

I would look at the Neff range. Good spec, easy to use, easy to keep clean and come with a two year warranty as standard. You will get one for your budget as well.

    HTH 🙂
