Hi,
Our side-by-side Whirlpool S20B RBB20 fridge freezer has had a fault or two for a few months. At first the control display and the ice/water dispenser on the front started flashing and clicking intermittantly. That then became more frequent over time and we simply put the vacation mode on for a few seconds then reverted to normal settings. This seemed to control the problem for a few hours or so.
The large PCB at the rear of the fridge also started clicking and becoming increasingly overactive for longer and longer periods and the temperature display for the freezer has now got to the point where it doesn’t display the temperature, just”–“.
Yesterday we found that the freezer had packed up completely and had defrosted most of its contents. It was emptied and for a few hours could not freeze the ice cube tray we left in there but this morning it is largely frozen. There is nothing else in the freezer.
I should also point out that since we moved in here 3 years ago we haven’t connected the fridge to a water supply; could this cause any damage over time?
From looking at the forum, I’m guessing I need to replace 2 PCBs… the user control PCB and the one at the back behind the freezer section (which is where the clicking is coming from). Does anyone think that other faults might be present? Might I be wasting money trying to repair a nine year old appliance?
By the way, the serial number is either:
8586 152 150000 or 11 0323 022449
Thanks
