KeymasterHello I wonder if you could let me know the fault code for my washer dryer, it flashes once every 10 secs. I have called in two engineers and they both said “computers gone wrong, too expensive to repair” without looking at the fault code. Is this just their way of saying they havn’t a clue? 😥

Not really up to speed on Indesit but once every 10 seconds might correspond to A01. Leak or overfilling, most likely water in the base. Turn the power off first. Pull the machine out, tip it back slightly and see if water drains from the base.
If it does, keep it tipped till the water stops. With a bit of luck it won’t have shorted the wash pump and it should work again. You’ll have to check that it’s not leaking though.

No, it’s more likely, as Merloni (Ariston’s Mother company) refuse to supply technical information to Independant engineers for these models so anything more than the obvious is virtually impossible to diagnose.
Mainly due to the manufacturer using electronic control systems that can only be read or diagnosed by equipment that they will only supply to their own employed engineers.
And at circa £80 a call, perhaps the next appliance purchase you make may be more informed.
Lesson learned ?
I hope so 😀

ParticipantOne flash is usually a fault in the motor speed control circuit. This is usually a component failure on the computer board. Unless you’re cleverer than we are, you need a replacement board, but you still need to know WHY it failed!
As Dave has suggested, these are not the best quality machines; there are far better ones out there.
Without being rude, your best bet is a better quality replacement appliance!

Thanks for your help. I suppose it looks like I need a new one! Any suggestions, I’ve looked at a Hotpoint WD420 (yes I know it’s still Merloni)
and a zanussi wjd 1667. Are zanussis any better? I have a young family so my washer dryer does take a pounding. 🙄October 9, 2004 at 12:11 pm #117757DentedPorsche
