ParticipantHi guys first post here so go easy on me.
I have a ff72p frost free mistral fridge freezer which packed up at the weekend. The temp rose up in both comp to ambient temp. I looked in the freezer comp and noted that the fan was not working. All other indications appeared noraml.I removed both green and yellow thermistors and carry out a check with a multi meter. Both thermistors showed a rise in resistance when cooled and lowered when warmed. They started off at approx 3 ohms each.
I then decided to switch appliance on with both thermistors removed. I put the green one in first and thats when the fan started to run. When I put the yellow one in the fan stopped running. I then removed the green one and the fan still stays off.
So basically the fan will run with the yellow thermistor removed. The problem is thou that both thermistors seemed to check out ok with the multimeter. So could it be a control board problem?? Any help much appreciated. Any ideas what the resistance readings should be on the thermistors etc??.
I was going to buy a yellow thermistor but am not sure.
Thanks , hope it makes sense.

The resistive values of the thermistors should change as the temperature does, I’d check that first.
Board is the expensive and pretty uncommon option. 😉

before you go buying the thermistors please do check that the fridge door has not dropped and stopped activating the light switch, its often the case as this also stops the fan from running.

Thanks for reply. I checked out both thermistors with a meter and the resistance values rose with cooling.

Thanks for reply Bob. I have checked the upper door half and the light is extinguished when shut. When I have the yellow thermistor disc the fan runs , I also opened the upper door and the fan stopped.

the thermistors were a common problem with this appliance, in your first post you stated that they were 3 ohms, that is a very low reading for a thermistor.
