Hi all you good people in fix it land ! I have been guided through a test procedure via an online engineer. We have arrived at the following
Machine stops mid cycle when it is about to launch into drain / rinse part of program. So water is still in machine.
I have stripped the pump and all hose connections – some detritous in flexy pipe from drum to pump. Pump works fine not stuck or blocked
It will operate its rinse cycle without failure – pumps drains spins all OK
So if it works on rinse cycle but not on wash cycle – has something happened to its brain?
Now before I go purchasing new door locks, pcbs etc is there anything else I can try?
I can use a test meter etc

If you are asking for a second opinion what was the first one?
E41 is supposed to signify,Door safety interlock faulty;
Wiring faulty;
Circuit board faulty.As the price difference between a door lock and a PCB is huge then trying a new doorlock would be the cheapest option.
Would suggest taking a megger to the motor and both wash heater and dryer heater and doing an insulation test first though.

Thanks for the reply yes I am aware the error code 41 is door lock/ wiring / pcb fault. I was just wondering why the machine will run a rinse/spin cycle when full of water but wont do this mid wash rinse/spin cycle. Logic dictates to me that if the door lock was at fault then the machine would not rinse / spin when that particular program is chosen!

There are lots of faults on modern electronically controlled machines that defy logic. 😉 All sorts of weird and wonderful things can upset the PCB’s giving error messages that don’t make sense at first.
If your multimeter is of decent quality then it should be capable of doing a basic insulation test on the heating elements (both). Even very slight earth leaks on elements can cause all sorts of problems.
When the machine stops mid cycle is the door still locked?
I am also aware that you are aware that E41 is as stated but you asked for a second opinion if I am not mistaken. 😉 😀

It seems as if I have got off on the wrong foot with your goodself. I am really p’eed off withthis machine and if i sounded abrupt or offensive then I take it back re me asking for a second opinion. I know the code E41 gives the started faults but me in my humble way thought there could be more to this error code malarkey than meets the eye. I too am from old Lancashire -St Helens and understand straight talking. So if the door lock is replaced and the insulation is OK then the PCB is playing up right ? This part is approx £160 so the machine is BER. What goes wrong with these pcb’s is it in built obsolecence? Just rantin’ sorry.

TBH the failure rate of Zanussi PCB’s has been on the increase for a few years now, but that goes for most manufacturers at the middle to low end of the market. I would still say that most PCB’s are damaged by other component failure most of the time ( Merloni group products excepted :rolls: )
As you say, worth trying a doorlock but if its a PCB thats a different thing altogether. 😥
Do check the insulation first though, its a very common cause of ‘funny’ faults on these machines.
