ParticipantHi, Been to this a few times now and it’s starting to get on my nerves. I fitted a new drum shaft and bearing kit to it and since then it has been making a very loud noise.
If I apply very light pressure to the top of the machine the noise goes away and will start again as soon as I take my hand off.
I can’t explain the noise but when it starts you have to turn it off it’s that loud. I know I have read in the past on here that someone has had this problem but I can’t remember the outcome and I can’t find it using the search.
Cheers

Its likely to be the drum catching on the back of the cabinet. The ultra tight belt pulls the crappy cabinet out of shape.
The only cure apart from holding it is to fit the later drum which has a bevelled rear edge to prevent this.
Of course in most cases that renders it BER. :rolls:
Its a good idea to fit as many of the spacer washers supplied in the bearing kits between the back of the drum and the cabinet as you can, you can get two or at a pinch even three washers in there which does push the drum away from the back.

Hi I dont think the noise is from the back. I have tried it with 1 washer worked ok for 1 load before it started making the noise again. I went back fitted 2 washers and again it was ok for a load or two before it started again. I have in the past come across the drum rubbing the back but this seems to be coming more from the front. I have had the machine apart about 5 times in total and every time I put it back together its ok but only for a short time. I will try and record it and get my son to put a vid up.
Thanks,

Did you replace the four plastic front bearing pads?

Yeah changed them and I have checked them all to make sure they are in properly.
Thanks,

Apart from using a full 1703080 kit and replacing both the rear spongy seal and the front felt seal as well I can’t think of anything that would cause a noise at the front. 😕
I await the film premiere. 😀
