After getting something out of freezer at 10.30 yesterday morning ..the door wasn’t shut properly. (drawer ‘front’s keep popping off and one of these ‘pushed’ the door back open).

I didn’t notice this until after midnight – and saw red warning light on.

Only the top two shelves had started to thaw..so I threw away/put in fridge to cook those bits. Made sure door was completely closed..and turned switch up to Fast Freeze (yellow indicator light).

It’s now 16 + hours later…and both the yellow AND red light are still on! I’ve had quick open and check and although nothing seems to be thawing..equally it’s NOT freezing as I thought it would be after this time.

Time for new freezer? or does it need longer to ‘work’??

If the door was left open it has built up too much ice on the evaporator for the defrost system to cope with.
If you can get someone to look after your food for 48 hours,
Turn off the freezer and leave the door open for 48 hours to allow it to defrost.
You should find it will work again after it has defrosted.
As you purchased this freezer from Iceland when Iceland sold freezers you may find your local Iceland will look after your food for a few days free of charge.
    I hope this helps

Many thanks Bob! I borrowed small chest freezer from son and did as you said ie turned off with door open for 48 hours.

Turned it on yesterday lunchtime..no loud noise! I put a small bowl of water in..and it’s freezing. ….BUT…whenever I open the door…then close it..there is a really weird loud sound coming from the back…like cross between running water/ice and someone making loud ‘slurping’ sounds with a straw when they get to the bottom of the glass! I’ve not put any food back in yet as afraid it’ll suddenly stop working. Any idea what this noise is and how to rectify it??

on the back of your fridge freezer is a defrost water collection tray, its full and will need a manual empty from you, just soak up the water with a sponge or towel,
the noise you hear is the water being sucked up the pipe by the pressure drop in the freezer when you close the door.

If it still makes the noise after emptying the tray on top the motor do not worry.
Sometimes the pipe has a u bend to stop the air entering the freezer.
The noise is just the air being sucked up the pipe past the water.
