Just been trying to get amica to go out to a 60cm D/F cooker where the ffds wont keep the flame on (according to homehelper) to be told the nearest gas engineer wont go to her post code as its too far. Have amica given up using GDHA service? Because surely until a national network of self service engineers that cover all of mainland uk can be arranged they should be retaining cover from gdha for the areas that dont have cover! This is fast becoming farcical, and making us question stocking amica now. At the moment we have the prospect of a customer potentially asking for a refund or non-amica exchange. Now if either of those things happens, whos going to pick up the gasfitters bill for disconnection/connection of a new cooker? that will eat any possible profit margin up my end. Shocking and i am not amused…

GDA haven’t been doing it for about a year. 😉

You can do seller service if you want.

Another engineer will be allocated to it but in some cases it can take a few days where holes are discovered as some people don’t tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth about cover until you actually place calls.

cant on this specific job tho as we arent gas safe, for other amica issues weve usually sorted stuff out ourselves as its normally not as much of an issue, which is why this issue is so frustrating.

And that’s why gas is a nightmare, not many people do it. So, limited choices.

One problem of course is for those of us whom are multi skilled to do the electric appliances as well as refrigeration systems and be gas safe registered is we see precious little of the easy electrical work as it is retained by the seller service guys and yet we are expected to travel the distance to cover the difficult more specialist repairs for no extra.

Perhaps a system where the specialist engineer gets all the work, gas, systems and electrical would ensure all calls get covered but obviously that would impact on the seller service guys whom might not want to sell the product in the first place.

No criticism of the posters on this thread but it might explain the reasoning behind an agents reticence about attending this type of call. I know I wouldn’t want to travel too far to cover a solitary gas call if the electrical work wasn’t coming my way as well.

Good luck with sorting it and regards to all.
