    Hey guys,

Some contractors are doing some work to my house and my washing machine (Hotpoint WF860) has been moved around a bit. Today they lifted it up off the ground to put it back in its hole and a piece of metal fell out of the bottom.

I’m wondering if anyone can tell me where it goes, i can’t for the life of me find anywhere obvious so any pointers would be great.

    I’ll attach a few photos.

    Thanks in advance 🙂

Has the machine ever had a drum or bearing change or had noise problems caused by a loose top concrete weight.

That is a shim that should be fitted under the top balance weight, under the right hand side, beneath right hand rear securing bolt ( looking from front)

Yes, i believe it has iadom.

It had the whole outer drum replaced a while ago.

So would this be put back in via the top of the machine or from underneath the machine?

Is the machine still safe to use without this part being put back?

Thanks a billion for your help 🙂

The top weight can be accessed from…………wait for it……..the top. 😀

It will have been left off inadvertently ( or carelessly ) :rolls: when the drum was replaced, possibly dropped into the carcase and just left there.

It would be nigh on impossible for it to come adrift on its own and the machine would have been making an awful noise if it did.

It would be a good idea to unplug the machine, take the top off and make sure the top weight is not loose, nip up the securing bolts if they are not tight. This shim was not fitted to all machines so if the weight is tight then its nothing to worry about.
