i remember when dom littlewood was on a car programme as the expert on buying used cars. never liked him a lot. likes to over egg his mix… and blow his horn. and likewise just because a tradesman isnt a member of a tradesbody or association doesnt mean they are a cowboy… plus i know of several elder customers who swear by a local builder. but because hes all smiles and was at school with their children its fine, even tho i can see hes pretty much ripping them off for a reasonable job or leaving them with shoddy workmanship to offer a competitive quote. the customers dont spot it because basically they cant, but when ive worked on stuff hes fitted the cupboards and fittings are never square and you can see where corners have been cut in the bits not on show to the customer

But nowadays models change so fast that they must struggle to put a model through its paces and review it before it’s discontinued.
