    Hi All
Got a whirlpool tumble dryer no heat. Found a massive blockage in the venting duct. Ran around all the components and found a stat that has continuity on two large terminals and open circuit on the two smaller terminals. I am presuming this has blown because of the blockage but can anyone confirm that these two terminals should be open circuit. I am guessing not but they are about £40 to buy in. The part number on the stat is 3387137. E-spares have it down as a cooker stat!? (ES483980)

Are you sure the two smaller terminals aren’t the NTC of the dryer? Im sure these dryers normally have a wiring diagram in with the timer. It may be worth a poke around in there.

Did you dare to join the two small terminals to see if heat came back?

Bit complicated as had to disconnect dryer fom mains due to cable 18 inches long!! Not a lot on tomorrow so might be worth a return check-up. Just hoping someone would say yay or nay to be being open circuit. So what if the stat should be open circuit and I short them what should happen? Just hope it heats if I do short them temorarily. No diagram, machine purchased second hand.
