I have a Diplomat hob with an intermittent ignition problem. It’s been diagnosed (by a knowledgeable layman) as a loose connection, but I can’t find anyone willing to come and look at it to fix it.

Can anyone give me any advice – should I be looking for a gas engineer, domestic appliance repairer etc?

Also, the hob is 10 years old (but works absolutely fine other than this problem), so is it likely to be cost effective to repair?

    Many thanks!

it may be made by stoves, usually supplied with a new kitchen by mfi. the engineer needs to be gas safe registered to work on gas appliances, what area are you in?

Stoves didn’t make the gas hobs, they just made ovens and cookers for them, diplomat hobs were cheapo ones made abroad somewhere, the generator included the ignition switch and if I remember rightly was quite expensive.

    I’m in Cambridgeshire.

Does it sound as though repairing isn’t going to be cost effective then?
